Getting Here By Air

There are 3 main ways to get to Sitia from the UK:-

1. All Year Round. Fly UK to Athens with any major airline (approx 3hr 30 min), then take an internal connection to Sitia (approx 1 hr).

Note: Athens to Sitia flights usually have morning departures (check current timetables using 'Flights' link opposite). For the Sitia connection, unless you wish to make a stopover in Athens for shopping or sightseeing, it's best to take an overnight flight from the UK.

2. All Year Round. Fly UK to Athens with any major airline (approx 3 hr 30 min), then take an internal connection to Heraklion (50 min).

Note: This can mean a faster turnaround in Athens with little or no waiting for your flight to Crete.*

3. April-October inclusive. Fly UK direct to Heraklion (approx 3hr 30 min) with one of the many charter airlines which operate this route throughout the summer season.*

*From Heraklion airport, you can then pick up car hire, taxi or bus to Sitia, all from just outside the terminal building, see info links below.

Flights

Olympic Airways operates the current Athens-Sitia flight path. They also have daily scheduled flights from London Heathrow to Athens as well as regular departures from London Gatwick and Manchester. All flights operate all year round. View current timetables and book online at www.olympic-airways.com.

Olympic and Aegean Air - www.aegeanair.com - both operate numerous daily internal flights between Athens and Heraklion.

Other airlines operate regular scheduled services between UK airports and Athens. For an availability overview and best available prices, search on www.expedia.co.uk. You can also book hotels through Expedia.

www.justtheflight.co.uk - all year round availability search and booking for either scheduled (UK-Athens) or charter (UK-Heraklion) flights.

From April - October, there are numerous charter flights direct from UK airports into Heraklion - www.teletickettravel.co.uk is a useful site for booking from a selection of charter airlines.

EasyJet (www.easyjet.com) not only often have cheap deals on UK-Athens flights all year round, but also run direct services from London Gatwick and Manchester to Heraklion, April - end of October.

Taxis

If you would like a taxi driver to collect you on arrival, please contact us in advance with your flight times.

Buses

Ferries

www.lane.gr - timetables for the ferry link between Athens' port of Pireaus and Sitia. Ferries also operate from Sitia's port to other island destinations.
